4 Truths for New Moms

When I was a new mom, some older moms came along side me and taught me so much about everything related to being a mama. Now as a mom of three, I want to encourage all new mamas. It is so easy to get caught up in everything that is not really important and loose sight of what is. New moms, these four truths are for you. My prayer is that they will be an encouragement to you as you start your journey of motherhood.

4 Truths that every new mom needs to hear
(1) Have grace with yourself. Everything is different once there is a baby in the house. New moms, give yourself endless grace. You do not have to fit back into your pre-pregnancy clothes right away or have all the answers for everything. There will be mom fails and there will be struggles- start off motherhood by accepting grace.

(2) Acknowledge the adjustment phase. Many times new moms tend to want to rush right into life as usual and forget about the adjustment phase. It takes time to adjust to a new way of life. Motherhood is full of different phases and we can learn something in each phase.

(3) It takes time to get to know your baby. Sometimes moms struggle because they feel like they do not know their little one. It is so important to remind yourself that it takes time to get to know your baby. As you care for your little one, you will learn what he/she likes or does not like. Each of my children needed different things to soothe and comfort them. There was not one method to follow and I had to remind myself this every time.

(4) Keep it simple. As a new mom, the tendency can be to try to be the best at everything. We want to have the perfect house, perfect dinners, perfectly behaved baby, and so on. However, perfection does not exist and striving to do everything will only leave us trailing in survival mode. When you are adjusting to life with a new baby, keep things as simple as possible.

New mamas, I want to encourage you that you can do this! Adjusting to life with a baby goes differently for everyone. Embrace your rhythm and what works for you. You are a great mom and exactly the mom that your sweet baby needs.
