Tuesday Talk Host Features: Christina

I have noticed a lot of new faces on our link-up this month. Welcome to our new participants! And to our old faithfuls - you are awesome! With the new followers and new hosts, I thought a re-introduction seemed due. So at the risk of sounding tacky, this month's Tuesday Talk Host Feature is (insert hand drum roll on my desk): me!

Ciao bella! I'm Christina, a new wife and mommy. I started blogging three years ago and over the years have narrowed in on what I'd like this space to be: a place of beauty, joy, gratitude, and serenity. You can learn more about WIB here.

Describe yourself in 3 words:

Short, sweet, and spunky...
and according to my hubby those three combined give rise to his choice of descriptors: adorable organizing perfectionist.

What are five of your favorite things?

Why did I ask this question? How can I narrow it down to just 5? So leaving faith, family, and friends out:
1. Pops of color: most typically red
2. Penguins
3. Patterns: polka dots, stripes, jacobean, etc.
4. Pretty eye-makeup
5. Powerful stories: books, movies, tales, etc.

Yes, I have a thing for lists and alliteration.

What is a motto you live by?

I think this changes depending on the season of life, but these three have been constant throughout my life:
"Do small things with great love."
"Little girl, I say to you, 'Arise!'"
"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want."

And this is a newer one that I think summarizes the others:
"Have courage and always be humble and kind."

What makes you feel beautiful inside and out?

Showering, putting on a nice outfit, doing my hair and make up, basically having enough time to get dressed is such a de-stresser for me and makes me feel good about myself. When I feel good about my outside, it flows into feeling good about my inside. I would also add that having a gentleman holding a baby compliment you on the end result goes a long way for feeling beautiful too. ;)

Spending a quiet moment with a warm cup of tea and/or being in nature helps me enter into prayer and I walk away feeling cherished by the greatest Love which makes me feel beautiful too.

What would your one piece of blogging advice be for our readers?

I'm having a hard time coming up with anything that hasn't been shared already. But I think I will say, do it out of joy. If it isn't bringing joy to you, then it won't bring that joy to others. I've done a lot of evaluating my heart and motivations since having our son, and doing something out of joy was what I came down to in regards to what things to keep and what to let go.
What's your favorite DIY trick or recipe or project?

I love to make and eat chili. I'm realizing I've never shared that recipe, something for my to do list!

As women, or human beings really, I think we are quick to share things that tear us down, so what are three things you are good at?

I'm good at remaining calm (on the outside) in stressful situations, Theology, and helping others feel good about themselves and their gifts.

Dear reader, let's flood the comments with positive thoughts! What's one thing you are good at? Can't think of anything? Share something you get complimented on by others.

Tuesday Talk Host Features: Laura

Today I'm featuring the lovely Laura from Life is Beautiful.

Describe yourself in 3 words:

First three that come to mind: joyful, authentic, frugal (I know, that third one's kind of odd for a top three ;) but in this new season of marriage and parenthood, I'm all about learning to live well on less).
What are five of your favorite things?

My amazing hubby, coffee or tea in a cute mug, fresh cut flowers on the table, reading books on the porch, and good conversations with girlfriends.

What is a motto you live by?

"God uses everything." or "Everything is grace." Both remind me that God is at work in the good, bad, and mundane days and that if we give every moment to Him, He will use it to make us the women we were meant to be. Nothing is wasted. There's a canvas He's painting that we can only see the tiny parts of in this life.

What makes you feel beautiful inside and out?

Word affirmation from my husband or others often can make me feel beautiful on the inside-- something that affirms my mind or heart, who I am on the inside. As for the outside-- doing my hair!! I have somewhat wavy, crazy hair if I let it air dry, so either curling it or straightening it makes me feel so much better! Makeup, too. It just adds some confidence to my step (and hides that third trimester sleep deprivation! ;) ).

What would your one piece of blogging advice be for our readers?

Be yourself. Don't compare to other bloggers. Be authentically you in your content and your voice. There's such a push right now to be a big blogger and it's important to blog for yourself and not for followers or growth. It's a balance to write for others' encouragement and inspiration yet not write for their approval.

What is your favorite thing about the 4th of July?

Ah! So many things! I love the cookout food and red/white/blue treats! Anything patriotic themed makes me happy. Oh, and the fireworks!
What's your favorite DIY trick or recipe or project?
I don't know if this is my favorite, but I love my homemade dryer sheets! I'm not a fan of the nasty chemicals in the ones at the store, so I cut up a few old t-shirts into that size of squares, added them to a mason jar with enough vinegar for them to soak but not swim, and then about 20 drops of my favorite essential oil (this time I used grapefruit for summertime). My husband likes the simplicity of them and I like the nontoxic benefit! :)
Dear readers, what's your favorite DIY, recipe, or project? Make sure you check back in to Laura's blog throughout the summer for a baby update from this sweet mama.

Tuesday Talk Host Features: Beth

Welcome back for another edition of Tuesday Talk Host Features. This month I'm featuring the sweet lady behind the scenes at Our Pretty Little Girls, Beth.  Enjoy getting to know her better!

Describe yourself in 3 words:

Focused, organized and motivated.

Yes, I realize those words don't paint a super fun image but that is what I have. When I want something I am all in, I thrive on organization and I find myself to be a very goal oriented and motivated person.

What are five of your favorite things?
In no particular order:
Chapstick
My running shoes
My Bible|
My Camera
& My KitchenAid mixer

What is a motto you live by?
The glass is always half full.

I used to be a highly pessimistic person but was really convicted about the bad attitude that came along with that. For years now I have been TRYING to work on this and I always find myself looking for that optimistic twist on anything that comes our way.

What makes you feel beautiful inside and out?

Boy this one is a tricky one. I can think of so many things that make me feel beautiful on the outside but adding the inside really has me thinking. I'd have to say going out with my guy on a date night. Usually that means I actually take the time to get ready and he always has a way of making me feel beautiful on the inside too.

What would your one piece of blogging advice be for our readers?

Be who you are, not who you feel others want you to be or the "picturesque" blogger in your head.

I can't even tell you how many times I have questioned my place in the world of blogging. I don't make daily trips to Starbucks. I love Target but in reality I shop at Walmart more. And I just don't have the time or desire to show every waking second of our day on social media only highlighting the parts that make me look awesome, of course

In being myself, my real self I have built amazing friendships with other bloggers who stay true to who they are too. I've used my blog as a place to pour out what is really going on in my heart and minister to others. But the biggest one is I have avoided burn out. People want to know you, the real you. Don't be afraid to show them who you really are.

What are your TWO favorite summertime drinks?

Iced coffee and Raspberry lemonade. It doesn't feel any more summer than those two drinks if you ask me :).

What is your favorite thing about the 4th of July?

I love watching the girls faces all lit up by the fireworks. I used to not get into celebrating the 4th but the older I get the more I find myself loving it.

What about you, dear readers? Comment below!
