With Grit & Grace: March Goals

Oh, February! You do this to me every time. You creep up on me ever so slowly in January and then you pounce and just as suddenly as you appeared you hide away again. You are like a jack-in-a-box, dear February. Despite the fleetness of the month, February is one of my favorites. It is our last official full month of winter. And sometimes, like this year, it is the start of hints of spring weather. I also cannot deny that my favor may have something to do about my birthday in the middle of the month, but honestly, "Aren't I lucky to have been born in my favorite [month]?" (Meet Me in St. Louis)

I made great strides in my February goals. Not only did I only make two real goals for the month, but from the get go I told myself I was going for growth not perfection. Perfection was achieved in growth, but not necessarily completion.

February Goals Recap:
- Weekly Meal Planning
I made a meal plan 2 out of the 3 weeks that have passed so far. It is Wednesday and I have yet to plan this week's meals, but there is still time to redeem myself! And I think I'll give myself a B in carrying out the plans. The meals were made eventually, but most often not on the day I originally planned. Gauging leftovers is something I need to work on too. Some meals provided enough to spare for 3-4 extra meals. This is a happy accident, because it means less cooking! I plan to work on freezing a bit more to use throughout the month.

Breakfast was a choice of eggs, Mock Oatmeal, or Protein Shake for me; the hubby stuck with his daily cereal and the baby had oatmeal with fruit or yogurt. Lunches were mostly leftovers, canned soup, or sandwiches. Dinners are where I put the most effort. This month I made a few staples, like Stuffed Peppers or Pancakes; but mostly have been trying out some old family recipes I haven't made in a good while, like Biscuits and Gravy; and new to us recipes, like Pear Turkey Burgers.

- Get Active
I think I get a B+ in this area. I have made more of an effort to get out of the house to walk, but with the cold weather that has meant walking stores and that requires a lot of self discipline to not come out with a few unplanned purchases, but I plan on using those handweights towards fulfilling this goal better! The Spring weather this week has made reaching this goal even easier. Our little guy loves being outside!

March Goals:
Our boy turns one at the end of March (how is that even possible?)! We will be blessed to have all of our parents, grandparents, and siblings in town to celebrate the event so we are putting our focus on the house this month in addition to growing in our habits from the past two months. My plan is to create a master list of everything we would like to have accomplished prior to our guests' arrival and each day do at least one of those items.
- Daily Goal
- Continue: Weekly Meal Planning, Increase Activity, and Getting dressed each day.

With Grit & Grace: December & An Announcement

It wasn't long into November that I realized my goal for the month should have been to simply get through it and that we did! December I have much more reasonable goals for myself all focused on simply enjoying this season of our lives. It is my favorite time of year, might as well relish in it!

November Goals Recap:

- Daily business hours
- Daily reading or audio book
- Daily prayer time
- Organize office space
- Family pictures
- Order Christmas cards
- Finish Christmas shopping

December Goals:

- Decorate our home
- Wrap gifts
- Bake Christmas cookies
- Reflect on 2016 and thank God for our Blessings
- Make memories

And now the news! We are moving With Grit & Grace to the LAST Wednesday of the month. I am thrilled for this move! This way it feels more natural to reflect on how things have gone and prep for the next month ahead! So the next With Grit & Grace will be on January 25th! Hope to see you there!

With Grit & Grace: October

Welcome back for another month of With Grit & Grace!

September Goals Recap:
- Begin Arbonne 30 Day Healthy Living Challenge
- Daily Reading
I did not get to this every day, but I saw great improvement in this as the month progressed. The real purpose of this goal was spending daily time on continuing to learn and grow myself. Once my audio book arrived my rate of spending some time on my self development goal increased to daily. Oddly enough, the more I felt I was accomplishing this goal through the audio book the more I yearned or could squeeze in time for the old fashioned paper version. Isn't there an old adage about the more you learn the more you have to learn? That's what I feel in my life!
- Daily Business Hours
So not a set hour every day which was my intention, but not my season of life right now, but I did work on my business every day.
- Daily  Prayer Time
Again not a set time, but daily.

October Goals:

- Daily self development: reading or listening to an audio book
- 15 minutes on each area of my business daily
- Grocery shop and prep meals on the weekend
- Date night (Got to celebrate 5 years since our first date! Hence the romantic/cheesy October goal pic)

Our Summer Fun List

The Summer season is fast approaching. It is a little hard for me to wrap my mind around, because my Spring seems to have been gone by without me recognizing its existence. The first few months postpartum have a way of doing that to you. So our Spring cleaning to-do list has shifted to a Summer to-do list, but that won't be taking away from our desires for Summer fun. We'll just have to do our chores first!

Here's what is on our Summer Fun List:

Gardening & Landscaping

B heads this one up. I admire how motivated he is to plant and care for our own vegetables and fruits. I also love that he cares about the flowers just as much.

Summer Cooking

I am so excited to cook with our fresh produce and use my new vegetable spiralizer. It spins the vegetables so you end up with veggie spirals or noodles. I have been wanting one for a good while and finally bought it for myself this Christmas. I'll update the blog with recipes!

Meals Outside

And while we are enjoying the fruits or our labor, might as well take them back outside for the full experience. Our back patio is nothing fancy, but I love sitting outside with nature. I think my tea and I may relocate there while the baby sleeps.

Daily Walks

The stroller and I are going to become good friends. :)

Festivals

Our city is known as the City of Festivals due to the many large and small festivals and fairs throughout the Summer. The opening festival to the season is this weekend. The highlight of GermanFest for us? The Wiener Dog Races!

Zoo Trips

We love our zoo! It is one of our favorite dates. In fact, I think I started falling for B during a zoo trip.

Pool & Lake Visits

I am not looking forward to finding a new swimsuit or any vigorous laps, but reading by a body of water sounds wonderful right now.

Fireworks

We haven't been home for the past few Independence Days. I'm looking forward to celebrating at home and meeting up with family to "oh" and "ah." We'll see how the baby does!

What is on your Summer Fun List?

Now for the link up!
